Bell Media’s SnackableTV comes out of beta

An ad-supported version will launch later this year.

Bell Media’s mobile short-form video app, SnackableTV, has come out of beta and has announced the first original for the platform: a short-form extension of CraveTV’s Letterkenny.

The Snackable app officially went live Feb. 5, with the video content platform now available for iOS and Android users. The service first launched in beta in June 2017 on iTunes. An ad-supported version is set to launch later this year.

The app currently offers 45 series, 30 of which are exclusives, including HBO’s High Maintenance web series, Comedy Central’s Honeymoon Tour and Jordan Peele’s Vandaveon and Mike, Nothing to Report.

The new short-form version of Letterkenny (which began as a short-form YouTube sketch before heading to Bell Media’s SVOD) will go into production later this year. Other content available on the service will include exclusive clips from season one of Letterkenny, season one and two of Canadian sci-fi web series Space Riders: Division Earth, shorts from The Beaverton, as well as daily videos from eTalk and Gusto programming.

SnackableTV will also be the exclusive home in Canada for Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud streaming service, featuring curated content from global comedians.

The shareable entertainment platform was first introduced back in 2016 as a real-time-oriented platform for programming between 30 and 90 seconds in length.
